Yeah… there are a lot of people who are bickering, bitching, and otherwise carrying on like children in some forums (I’m looking at you, XDA-Developer members) over how little has been done for bringing Ice Cream Sandwich to the Droid Charge. They yell, they scream, they troll, and not one of these members who are doing all of this have done one damn bit of work to help bring Ice Cream Sandwich to the Droid Charge. Have they contributed source code? No. Then you don’t have any room to talk.
Until you realize just how difficult it is to build a stable ROM for Android and you have contributed to the development of the ROM, you have no room to talk or complain.
JT1134 over on XDA-Developers along with a number of other people have contributed a lot to the makings for bringing Ice Cream Sandwich to the Droid Charge. It works, sort of. We still don’t have radios for the ROM but that’s nothing we can blame on people. Samsung hasn’t released the source code for the RIL (Radio Interface Layer) so we can’t build the drivers to make the radios work.
Now, we have two good ROMs for the Droid Charge. TweakStock which I’ve recommended as the ROM to install on my Android page and we have Eclipse as well. Both are very good ROMs. In my opinion, TweakStock is the best damn ROM you can have for the Droid Charge. It’s practically perfection for the Droid Charge.
Yes, it would be nice to have Ice Cream Sandwich for the Droid Charge but… Do we really need it? My answer is… no.
