As the title of this blog post indicates, the Windows 11 Reset tool doesn’t reset everything. How did I come to this conclusion? Simple. I’ve been using the “Reset this PC” tool for some time and each time I brought the system back up, I always had the same issues. System RAM usage was off the scale, certain settings despite the fact that I told it to not keep any settings from the previous setup came back, and strange issues always cropped up as well.
It wasn’t until I performed a full re-install and by that, I mean I created new installation media using Rufus and blew away all partitions on both my system SSD and my game drive SSD and performed a full clean install. Only after that did all of my issues go away. I can’t believe it! I thought the “Reset this PC” tool was supposed to make reinstalling your OS much easier but if it doesn’t truly do what the name implies, then what’s the point? I guess the next time I need to reinstall Windows for whatever reason, it won’t be using the “Reset this PC” tool and instead I’ll create new installation media and nuke the whole Windows installation from orbit.
